Notarial Services at Pakistan Embassies

Pakistan embassies and high commissions provide notarial services for overseas Pakistanis who need documents attested, powers of attorney executed, or affidavits sworn for use in Pakistan.

Services Available

Power of Attorney (General & Special)

A Power of Attorney allows you to authorise someone in Pakistan to act on your behalf for property transactions, legal proceedings, business dealings, or financial matters. The embassy attests your signature on the document. You must appear in person with your CNIC/NICOP and the pre-prepared POA document.

Affidavits & Sworn Statements

Embassy officials can administer oaths on affidavits, declarations, and sworn statements. Common uses include: name change affidavits, single status declarations (for marriage purposes), address verification, and lost document declarations.

Certified True Copies

The embassy can certify copies of original documents as true copies. Bring the original document and the photocopy. The consular officer will compare them and stamp the copy as certified.

Signature Verification

The embassy can verify your signature on documents that require consular attestation. You must sign the document in front of the consular officer.

Document Translation Attestation

If you have documents translated from Urdu to English (or vice versa), the embassy can attest the translation as accurate. The translation must be done by a certified translator.

Important Notes

  • Most notarial services require an appointment — walk-in availability varies
  • You must appear in person for all notarial services (the whole point is the consular officer witnessing your signature or oath)
  • Bring valid ID (Pakistan passport and CNIC/NICOP)
  • Prepare your documents before visiting — the embassy attests documents but does not draft them. Have your Power of Attorney or affidavit prepared by a solicitor or lawyer beforehand.
  • Some embassies may require documents to be in both English and Urdu
