Birth Certificates & Registration Abroad
Registering the birth of your child at a Pakistan embassy is essential for establishing Pakistani citizenship, obtaining a B-Form from NADRA, and applying for the child's Pakistan passport.
What is the Pakistan B-Form?
The B-Form (Child Registration Certificate) is issued by NADRA for Pakistani children from birth until they turn 18. It serves as proof of Pakistani citizenship for minors and is required for:
- Applying for a child's Pakistan passport
- Enrolling in Pakistani schools (if returning to Pakistan)
- Applying for a NICOP for the child
- Registering the child in the family's NADRA record
- Proving the child's Pakistani citizenship for dual nationality purposes
Required Documents
- Original birth certificate from the country of birth (with apostille or notarisation)
- Father's Pakistan passport and CNIC/NICOP
- Mother's passport and CNIC/NICOP (or foreign passport if non-Pakistani)
- Parents' nikah nama or marriage certificate
- Two photographs of the child
- Completed birth registration form
- Registration fee
Registration Process
- Obtain the child's birth certificate from the local civil registration authority
- Get it notarised/apostilled if required by your embassy
- Visit the nearest Pakistan embassy with all required documents
- Complete the registration form and pay the fee
- The embassy forwards the registration to NADRA in Pakistan
- NADRA issues the B-Form (may take 2-4 weeks after embassy submission)
- You can then apply for the child's Pakistan passport and NICOP
Timing: Register the birth as soon as possible. While there is no strict deadline, late registrations may require additional documentation and verification. Early registration makes passport and NICOP applications smoother.
