Arrival Process at Lahore Airport
- Immigration: Separate queues for Pakistani nationals, Diplomatic/Crew, and Foreigners. Present passport, visa, and completed immigration form. Allama Iqbal Terminal handles international arrivals efficiently with modernised facilities. Queue time: 15-40 minutes during peak periods.
- Visa on Arrival / E-Visa: E-visa holders show the printed confirmation. Visa on arrival counter for eligible nationalities. Requirements: passport (6+ months validity), return ticket, hotel booking, funds. Fees $25-100 USD. Sikh pilgrims visiting Gurdwaras may enter via the Kartarpur Corridor separately.
- Baggage claim: Collect luggage from the carousel. Free trolleys available. Report any baggage issues at your airline desk before leaving the area.
- Customs: Green channel for nothing to declare, Red channel for declarable items. Duty-free: 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars. Currency up to $10,000 USD without declaration. Alcohol import prohibited.
- Arrivals hall: SIM kiosks (Jazz, Zong, Telenor), currency exchange, ATMs, and transport available outside customs. The hall connects to the parking area and taxi stand.

- SIM card: Buy Jazz, Zong, or Telenor at arrivals hall kiosks. PKR 500-1,000 with 10-30GB data. Passport needed for registration. Jazz has excellent coverage across Punjab. Activation 15-30 minutes.
- Currency exchange: Exchange counters accept USD, GBP, EUR, AED. Airport rates are fair. Change enough for transport (PKR 1,500-3,000). Better rates at Liberty Market and Gulberg exchange shops.
- ATMs: HBL, UBL, MCB, and Meezan Bank ATMs in arrivals. International Visa and Mastercard accepted.
- Transport: Pre-paid taxi to Gulberg/Liberty (PKR 800-1,200), Walled City (PKR 1,000-1,500), DHA (PKR 1,200-2,000). Careem and InDriver apps (PKR 500-1,500). The Orange Line Metro is a budget option (PKR 40) with a station near the airport. The airport is well-connected to major areas of Lahore.
- Weather: Lahore has extreme seasons. Summers (May-Aug) reach 42-48°C. Winters (Dec-Feb) drop to 2-8°C with heavy fog that can delay flights. Monsoon (Jul-Sep) brings heavy rain. Smog season (Oct-Dec) can affect air quality.
- Lahore food: Famous for its cuisine. Try nihari, paye, and Lahori kebabs at Food Street near the Walled City. The city is known as the food capital of Pakistan.
